Broomfields Youth Project (BYP)
To assist with Youth Work, the Parish Council provides support to the BYP being held
on a Friday evening at Broomfields Leisure Centre through covering the costs for
the provision of the 4 all-weather pitches for 2 hours on Friday evenings.
Planning approval was given to BYP in January 2014 by the Borough Council for a POD
at Broomfields Leisure Centre to comprise of an open café style space, small store
and toilet. A gate has been installed with no access to be permitted through the
gate when the BYP is in operation. The Parish Council has donated the sum of £12,000
to assist with the purchase of the POD.
The first Annual Ward Meeting for Appleton took place on the 9th March 1896 at the
Appleton Thorn School Room and seven names were elected from the eight nominations.
The Parish Council later took occupation of the Appleton Parish Hall on Dudlow Green
Road on 17 July 1968 and this is still the base for its monthly meetings (apart from
August) and any extra committee meetings.

churches and the parish hall.

The Parish Council together with Grappenhall & Thelwall, Lymm and Stockton Heath
Parish Councils has continued to provide funds to support the provision of nine Police
Community Support Officers (PCSOs) in those areas.
